With the hours that student athletes must train, there is not enough time to study. Full scholarships to athletes are false promises.
Instead of concurrent scholarships that expire when eligibility or play comes to an end, scholarships for athletes from Illinois should extend indefinitely.
Another alternative is to pay athletes for their work. College sports brings money to everyone but the people who bring the talent.
High level athletes work through college at a professional level without pay. They are robbed of their youth and given little in return.
